Close Protection course feedback

Things have been busy these past two weeks at the Symbiotic Security HQ as we've been running a close protection course while simultaneously being in the finalising stages of launching our International Close Protection course in conjunction with ASP Bodyguard in Cannes, France. The feedback on the last Close Protection course has been overwhelmingly positive:

"All those activities considered ‘curve balls’ were very well received. All the students suggested that this was the best type of training as it best mimicked what CP work is in the real world.

Upon mentioning instructors the entire group immediately showed an overwhelming amount of respect and gratitude; they went as far as to say the course would not be a shadow of what it is without them.

The background of instructors was picked out as a real selling point and students said they were immediately put at ease when instructors gave them their phone numbers and told them they’d be available 24/7.

The students all very much enjoyed the course and said they would instantly recommend it to others; one student pointed out that they already had. It seems that it is very good value for money and could well be increased without causing any controversy."

Student feedback plays an integral role in how we can improve our courses and make them the best that they can be, and all the positive responses we've recieved is a confirmation that we're on the right track to making our CP courses relevant and engaging for our students. So if you've ever thought about going into close protection, now is the time to do it.

In September we will be launching out International Close Protection course that will include firearms training in France, as well as the right to operate in both the UK and in France, doubling your employment opportunities. And besides, who doesn't want to spend a week in Cannes?

A weekend of cinema screenings and K-POP at the Coronet!

The Symbiotic Security team were at The Coronet Theatre last weekend providing security for some events that differed to the usual club fare. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon our stewards and SIA licensed door supervisors were on the job at a cinema screening; proving once again that the Coronet Theatre is a wonderfully flexible venue that can cater to all sorts of events. Sunday night however, was an entirely different story, as we became party to something of a historical event - a Dok2 concert, the first K-pop band ever to play in the UK. Dok2 is a hip-hop artist and producer, who aims to develop and musical genre in his homeland Korea bring K-pop to the UK, and judging by the success of the event we'd say he was on his way to doing just that.
We have more events coming up, and as ever remember to check out this space for more updates on the Symbiotic Security Team and what we do.

Upcoming BTEC Level 4 Security and Risk Management course dates

If you've not heard about our BTEC Level 4 Security and Risk Management course yet, where have you been? We've been tweeting about it non-stop since its inception, and we're excited to say that we have new dates for the next course...

So mark these dates in your diaries everyone: 19th - 23rd September 2011. That's when the next BTEC Level 4 course is, and if you're looking to climb up the career ladder and become a manager you should seriously consider booking a place on it.

Traditionally, security managers are promoted after time served in the industry rather than as a result of any formal qualifications - the result of this is that it has created a barrier between security departments and other departments in a corporation; where all other managers require qualifications to do their jobs. As a result, security managers often have trouble understanding the needs of the business and often have trouble communicating on security matters - even worse, sometimes they are seen as a liability to the corporation, especially when there are more qualified competitors who can be hired for less.

The security industry is changing, and we have the answer for security managers who are serious about their careers.

So call now and book your place on our course! It can be bought with the easy-payment option and 10% of the proceeds from this course goes to Help for Heroes, an NGO that raises money to help soldiers who have been wounded serving their country.

A whole week of events!

To start off I'd like to apologise for the rather late nature of this update, but so many events have happened since the last time we posted that we haven't had the time to detail them all.

First of all, last week we were fortunate enough to join our business partners Shining Wit for the unveiling of a new water feature in front of the Connaught Hotel - guests included several VIP's from Grosvenor and Westminster council, as well as hotel guests. Thanks to our security team the evening went by smoothly, and Martin Hyde from Shining Wit has sent us a fantastic little e-mail message to thank us for the work we do:

"Morning All,

Just want to say a big thank you to you for helping make last nights event
at Mount Street such a resounding success, you have a very happy client and
so do we.

Many thanks
Martin
"

We look forward to working on more events with Shining Wit, and I know our SIA door supervisors and close protection operatives enjoy working with them too.

On Saturday we were at The Coronet theatre providing security for a Yuri da Cunha concert. Yuri da Cunha is a Semba musician from Angola, winner of the contemporary African song of the year at the annual Museke Online Africa Music Awards. Over the weekend we also had door supervisors working at Club Runway, a fashionably exclusive club on New Oxford Street.

As always we'll be continuing to update everyone on the events that we're involved in, so watch this space!

WE Heroes at The Coronet Theatre - an evening of partying with superheroes

Last Saturday the Symbiotic Security team were at The Coronet Theatre providing security for the London Pride event "We Heroes" in Elephant &Castle. A memorable evening to be sure - with incredible special effects, custom visuals, LED walls and hi-tech production it is clear that the We Part team outdid themselves; and having superstars DJ Carlos Gallardo and DJ Pagano in attendence was just the icing on the cake.

Thanks to the Symbiotic Security team a safe time was had by all, and we look forward to more events at The Coronet Theatre.

News from Symbiotic Security

Hi all,

Lots has been happening here over the last few days!

SIA Close Protection Course
Our current SIA Close Protection delegates are preparing for their final assessments and all is going well. They are busy working away on their portfolios and are really working hard, despite being at the end of a long road.

Partnership with Waltham Forest Council
We have partnered with Waltham Forest Council to provide our SIA Door Supervision and SIA CCTV delegates with additional FREE employability skills such as literacy and numeracy. We can also introduce our delegates to funded ESOL courses if they need to improve their English language skills to improve their chances of finding employment. This partnership reinforces our commitment to producing the most employable SIA operatives in the UK and doing our bit to raise the standards within the security industry while also supporting our training school clients.

Level 4 BTEC in Security and Risk Management
We are currently finalising our new BTEC Level 4 in Security and Risk Management. This course is designed for current security personnel who have been in post for some time and are looking for their next professional step. It is also suitable for ex-military and ex-Police personnel who are leaving their service and want to become credible management candidates for civilian security posts.

Traditionally, security is somewhat removed from the core operations of a business and this creates a professional 'ceiling' that security professionals have been struggling to overcome. Our Level 4 in Security and Risk Management addresses the skills deficit that this situation highlights by teaching how security relates to the operational needs of a business and brings the security professional into the heart of a commercial organisation.

We are gathering interest now in this course - email rich@symbiosec.co.uk if you are interested.

Symbiotic Security Close Protection Course off to a flying start

The latest Close Protection course at Symbiotic Security in East London is now fully underway and the students are progressing well. Saturday started with the three days of First Aid and they are now moving on to the core of the course.

Our Close Protection course adds to the basic requirements of the SIA with defensive driving, convoy driving and of course the advanced self defence modules that we have included to ensure our Close Protection operatives are prepared for their first taskings in the real world.

Our offer of half price Close Protection Training is now over, however we are still taking bookings for our next course in July. If you want the most valuable CPO training in the UK, get in touch!

Symbiotic Security partners with McCormack Training

Hi all,

Symbiotic Security have just qualified 4 of our trainers in the McCormack system of physical intervention. McCormack is, in our opinion, the most credible of the SIA approved physical intervention courses for delivery with the Door Supervision courses and we are proud to be able to deliver it.

We will also be offering physical intervention and personal safety training for NHS, care homes, schools, colleges and other high risk occupations - this will be announced on our website soon!

If you are a Door Supervision trainer in London and are fed up of either your current training provider who certifies you for physical restraint or else want to teach something more practical, credible and effective then we can help. We have partnered with McCormack to provide conversion courses for security trainers who want to save money and raise the standard of what is being taught to Door Supervisors and others. Give us a call on 07856 012854 to find out more.

Door Supervisor Course Ends Well

Well, it's Monday and the latest SIA Door Supervisor course has ended with some happy faces!

We added to the course by offering some additional self defence training in our gym facility completely free of charge, which went down a storm. As a result of the popularity of these classes, we will be offering all SIA Door Supervisor trainees the chance to take 2 free trial lessons in our gym during their course, one in Judo and the other in Spartan Self Defence (a blended military combative system using Russian Systema, Krav Maga, Hagganah and other styles).

We are already nearly full on our next SIA Close Protection course running in May, with our half price offer of £1000 + VAT helping more people take the next professional step in security. We have just 3 places left, so NOW is the time to get involved in Close Protection at half price.

Contact us for more information. www.symbiosec.co.uk

We look forward to seeing you.

Congratulations to those delegates - keep up the good work!

We're really excited about our next SIA Close Protection course that is starting next month. We are still offering this for half price at just £1000 ex VAT and have very few places left - interest is high so don't hang about!

Door Supervisor Course Enrolment

Hi all!

We're just completing the enrolment process for our next Door Supervision course at our training facility in Leyton, E10.

The guys are all excited and many of them have taken advantage of our offer to achieve Door Supervision, CCTV, First Aid and Fire Safety qualifications - all for the low price of £495. There are lots of happy faces out there and we are getting ready for another great set of courses.

We treat the courses as a part of the selection process for potential security operatives and it's easy to see that some of the guys here have real potential to do well in this industry. It's a pleasure to be helping them get started and many of them have such a positive experience with us that they introduce us to their friends.
